On July 16, 2023, Carlos Alcaraz won his first Wimbledon title, becoming the youngest men's champion in 37 years.
Alcaraz defeated Novak Djokovic in a thrilling match, ending Djokovic's decade-long reign at Wimbledon. The final scores were 1-6, 7-6(6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. Djokovic, previously unbeaten on Wimbledon's Centre Court, couldn't stop the 20-year-old Spaniard.
After a strong start from Djokovic, Alcaraz managed to turn the game around, breaking Djokovic's serve early in the second set. Despite a fourth set comeback by Djokovic, Alcaraz prevailed in the fifth set to secure his victory. This is Alcaraz's second Grand Slam win following his U.S. Open title.

Shopify AI Sidekick:

Shopify has announced the forthcoming launch of an artificial intelligence (AI) assistant called "Sidekick."
This AI tool will be directly integrated into the Shopify platform and will be accessible to merchants via a dedicated button. As explained by Shopify's CEO Tobi Lutke in a video shared on Twitter, Sidekick is designed to help merchants on the platform by answering their queries.
This includes providing information on sales trends, helping users make more data-driven business decisions. In addition to responding to queries, Sidekick also offers capabilities to facilitate store management. For instance, it can apply discounts across all items in a store if directed by the user.
This move from Shopify is in line with a broader industry trend. Over the past few months, several technology companies like Alibaba, Zoom, and Databricks have introduced AI assistants. This has been motivated in part by the widespread use and success of OpenAI's chatbot, ChatGPT.

Prime Day Statistics:

Amazon reported its largest-ever Prime Day in 2023, noting that over the event's two-day span from July 11-12, global Prime members bought over 375 million items, saving more than $2.5 billion in total. The first day marked the highest sales in the company's history.
The event also set a record for independent sellers, primarily small to medium-sized businesses, whose sales growth during Prime Day surpassed that of Amazon's retail sector. Amazon increased the number of small business product deals this year, resulting in some small businesses increasing their average daily sales by over 18 times on the first day of the sale compared to the pre-Prime Day period.
The Prime Day event also spurred overall online sales, with consumers spending $12.7 billion across all online platforms during the two-day event. This marks a 6.1% increase from the previous year and sets a new record for Prime Day-induced demand, according to data from Adobe Analytics.
