Leaked Information Database:
- The data breach notification service Have I Been Pwned (HIBP) has recently incorporated nearly 71 million email addresses linked to compromised accounts from the Naz.API dataset. This massive dataset contains 1 billion credentials gathered from credential stuffing lists and data stolen by information-stealing malware. Credential stuffing lists include username and password combinations taken from previous breaches, used to access accounts on other platforms.
- Information-stealing malware targets a wide range of data on infected computers, such as credentials saved in browsers, VPNs, FTP clients, and more. It also aims to steal SSH keys, credit card details, cookies, browsing history, and cryptocurrency wallets. The stolen data, including login URLs, usernames, and passwords, are compiled into text files and images, known as logs. These logs are stored in archives and uploaded to remote servers for attackers to collect.
- The Naz.API dataset, a collection of stolen credentials from credential stuffing lists and malware logs, has gained attention in the data breach community. It was notably used by the open-source intelligence platform illicit.services, which allowed users to search a database of stolen information. After shutting down in July 2023 due to concerns of misuse, the service briefly resumed in September. Troy Hunt, the creator of HIBP, added the Naz.API dataset to his service after receiving it from a well-known tech company.
- This dataset comprises 319 files totaling 104GB, containing 70,840,771 unique email addresses. While the data is believed to be somewhat old, with some credentials dating back over 13 years, it remains a significant repository of compromised information. Individuals can check if their credentials are part of the Naz.API dataset by searching on the HIBP website, which will indicate potential malware infection if their email is found within the dataset.
Apple Vision Pro Preorders:
- On Friday, Apple opened preorders for its highly anticipated Vision Pro mixed-reality headset, priced at $3,499. Alongside the base model, which includes 256 gigabytes of storage, Apple introduced two additional configurations: a 512-gigabyte version for $3,699 and a premium 1-terabyte model for $3,899.
- Additionally, Apple is offering a carrying case for $199, extra batteries at the same price, and additional bands for $99 each. The Vision Pro went on sale at 8 AM Eastern time through Apple's website and mobile app, with the first batch of orders set to be delivered on February 2nd.
- However, the delivery dates for online orders of all three models were quickly pushed back to March 8-15, and the headset sold out for in-store pickup at numerous locations on the first day. This rapid shift in availability indicates either a strong demand, limited supply, or a combination of both factors.
