Amazon's Anthropic Investment:

  • Amazon plans to invest up to $4 billion in the AI company Anthropic. This deal will see Anthropic use Amazon's custom chips for its AI software and incorporate its tech into Amazon products. Amazon's initial investment is $1.25 billion, which might grow to $4 billion based on certain conditions.
  • Tech giants have increased investments in AI startups after the success of the ChatGPT bot. Anthropic, founded in 2021, offers an AI assistant named Claude. Unlike OpenAI's exclusive deal with Microsoft, Anthropic partners with both Amazon and Google.
  • Amazon's stake in Anthropic is part of a new, yet-to-be-valued fundraising round. Anthropic previously raised $450 million, with a valuation of $4 billion. Amazon's approach to AI investments has shifted from neutrality to active participation. Anthropic will make Amazon Web Services its main cloud provider.

ChatGPT Voice & Vision Upgrades:

  • OpenAI's ChatGPT is adding voice and image features, allowing it to engage in voice chats and analyze images. ChatGPT, since its introduction, has been utilized for diverse purposes, from document summarization and creation to coding. Big tech firms are in competition to launch similar generative AI-based solutions.
  • Additionally, image support lets users input photos and ask ChatGPT for help, such as identifying why a grill isn't working or analyzing a work graph. Google Lens and Bing are the current popular tools for image information. Additionally, the image interaction capability is another significant enhancement.
  • Similarly, it can analyze the contents of a refrigerator and suggest meals, or even evaluate intricate designs and patterns to extract relevant data. Subscribers of ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise will gain access to these new features in the upcoming weeks.
